At the beginning of RUNNING OUT, Jake calls a Lyft to take him and his girlfriend to the airport. Then in the time it takes for the driver to arrive, the film builds quietly to a heart-stopping crescendo. I love the emotional rollercoaster of this single-take short, and Rashid’s dynamic performance as Jake. You may need some recovery time after you finish this one. — Kath T (Programmer)

DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY
Avi Kaye is a director based in Los Angeles. He began directing home movies when he was 8 years old, and has continued making films ever since. After graduating from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, he continues to add to his body of work by directing short films, comedy sketches for the YouTube channel “Giggle Break,” and action scenes for his Instagram series INSTANT COMBAT. He also works as a freelance cinematographer, editor, and VFX artist.
