What does it mean to feel seen by others before you’re ready to see yourself? A filmmaker travels back to 1997 to revisit a dream-like memory from second grade that centers around her queer identity, her legendary PE teacher and a mysterious large plastic fish.
Director Drew Dickler puts herself front and center in this charming documentary. Looking back to her childhood, Drew explores an elementary school memory involving her gym teacher and a large bass. You read that right! It couldn’t possibly be real. Or is it? This documentary is a beautiful exploration of queer identity and how we remember and experience childhood memories. It’s a surprising and heartwarming journey towards a greater self-acceptance. Led with curiosity, vulnerability and authenticity, Drew knocked it out of the park!
