In a crumbling Indian town, three retired men protest machines replacing human jobs by pretending to be household appliances.
As soon as I saw a grown man pretending to be a satellite dish to combat AI, I fell in love with this movie. WE WERE HERE takes such a ridiculous idea and imbues it with such true, honest to goodness human connection that I genuinely felt moved by the ending. Filmmaker Pranav Bhasin pulls off a tone in this film that never overstays its welcome; He always finds the right moment to remind us what our Quixotic heroes (played masterfully by Satish Kashyap, Dvendra Dodke, and Arindol Bagchi) are fighting for. Masterfully edited, stunningly shot, and outrageously funny; it’ll make you grin every time you see a microwave.
