Digital Release: LONG LINE OF LADIES

The 2022 Salute Your Shorts Film Festival's Honorable Mention in Documentary LONG LINE OF LADIES directed by Shaandiin Tome andRayka Zehtabchi is now streaming on The New York Times

Shot stunningly on film, Long Line of Ladies portrays a Native community reclaiming a sacred ceremony that not only destigmatizes a woman’s reproductive cycle, but celebrates it. My favorite scene features a father proudly recounting the moment his daughter called him to let him know she got her period for the first time. Honestly, I’m daunted by the task of summing up the merits of this film in such a short paragraph because it’s so special that no endorsement can do it justice. Just come to the festival and see it. — Erin Brown Thomas, Artistic Director

Synopsis

A girl and her community prepare for her Ihuk, the once-dormant coming of age ceremony of the Karuk tribes of Northern California.
