Rat Tail is a comedic look at director Chad Sogas’ battle with depression using archival footage and ephemera from his past, focusing primarily on the rat tail he had for ten years that his parents still keep in the storage room of their basement.
Rat Tail is one of the first films I screened this year and one that has probably stuck with me the most. Director Chad Sogas bravely explores the origin of his childhood “rat tail” and soon learns it goes much deeper than he realized. Rat Tail is creative, brilliantly edited, funny, and heart wrenching all at the same time. By exploring his own story, Sogas lets all of us know we aren’t alone. — Jillian Corsie, Programmer
