WARSHA

Directed by Dania Bdeir

Produced by Inter Spinas Films: Coralie Dias

France, Lebanon | Arabic | 15' | Fiction

A crane operator in Beirut volunteers to cover a shift on one of the most dangerous cranes, where he is able to find his freedom.

Warsha is a completely original story that mixes big picture spectacle with universal themes like gender non-conformity, the immigrant experience, unsafe working conditions, and global definitions of masculinity. Without giving too much away, anyone who knows my personal body of work will understand why the ending of this film is special to me. There’s nothing quite like the freedom that comes from getting to be yourself, and the journey to get there is worth it, no matter how far (or high) you have to climb. — Erin Brown Thomas, Artistic Director
