FAIRPLAY

Directed by Zoel Aeschbacher

Produced by Elena Tatti, Nelson Ghrenassia

France, Switzerland | French | 18' | Fiction

A teenager in search of recognition, a worker ready to do anything to hit the jackpot, a senior executive at the end of his career who wants to prove to himself that he is still alive. Three characters who are losing speed on the competition highway...

FAIRPLAY is the first film I screened this year that I knew with 100% certainty we would play. Imagine a thematically driven tryptic rearranged into a rhythmic montage of escalating anxiety and unease. FAIRPLAY is a doctoral level dissertation on the perils of competition within capitalism. The ratcheting tension climaxes in a powerful ending frame, a cruel joke dripping with irony. You just gotta see this one. Just make sure you pee first. Trust me. — Erin Brown Thomas, Artistic Director
