Chow

Directed by Kevin Armento

Produced by Carolyn Levine & Timothy Mendonca

United States | English | 15' | Horror, Comedy

A man's life begins to unravel after he eats an unsettling meal abroad and becomes obsessed with recreating it at home.

Sometimes a film disturbs us for all the right reasons. At SYSFF, our mantra is “films with aftertaste”, and few films embody that better than Chow. Anchored by grounded, charismatic performances from Ben Platt and SYSFF alum Pauline Chalamet, this bizarre late-night comedy walks a fine line between charm and provocation. Animal lovers may find equal cause to laugh and recoil in this story of a very specific culinary obsession — making it a perfect fit for our After Hours lineup. No matter your dietary preferences or belief system, Chow doesn’t let you look away from the truth: we eat living creatures.
