A dive inside the mind of a female captive as all the different parts of her fight over what is true and what to do.

Hello fellow futurists who live in your head and anticipate everything that could possibly go right or wrong in your life… I have a film for you! Female Captive dives into the mind of a hostage as she navigates reality and her readiness to escape. It’s full of specific, relatable humor and features one of the most athletic acting performances by Pauline Chalamet I’ve ever seen.
After being programmed by some version of “The Hero’s Journey” for 99% of my viewing experiences in my life, I have to reorient myself when something breaks the mold. Female Captive demanded a second watch from me because I was so in awe of the total disregard for structure as it’s taught in film school. Do. Not. Get. Me. Wrong. This film is brimming with conflict. It’s just so different! Writer/Director Brit Crawshaw and Co-Director Josh Hayward are a creative duo to keep your eye on! — Erin Brown Thomas, Artistic Director
